Investigation of the TMS Waldhof accident – Interim report

For information of international experts, the Secretariat of the CCNR has translated the interim report (summary) by the commission of the Waterways and Shipping Directorate Southwest (Wasser- und Schifffahrtsdirektion Südwest) concerning the investigation into the accident of the motor tanker.

Contrary to the intention of the commission of the Waterways and Shipping Directorate, it was not possible to present a complete investigation report by the end of the year; firstly because not all expert statements and investigations commissioned have been completed; and secondly because the files pertaining to the criminal investigation into the incident by the public prosecutor’s office in Koblenz have not yet been submitted, and thus the commission could not yet include the results of the investigation in its evaluation.

In the face of the tremendous amount of general public interest within the region and among experts, the Waterways and Shipping Directorate Southwest has made the interim report (complete version), including annexes, available for web downloading by the general public under www.elwis.de.
